We all want to have FUN... Of course we do!
We want to enjoy life, have happiness, eat good food, watch good movies, read great books, do things that are meaningful to us and basically find what gives us joy, then do that thing as much as possible, right?
But logically speaking we also need to be working towards creating a future where we have the independence and freedom to be able to do our fun things as much as possible, hopefully as a career. As tween/teens, you have this crucial opportunity to develop a future that gives you what you want, and a life or career doing what you want. But the attraction of having all your fun now, and forgetting about the future means that you put off the necessary work to achieve a future that you want. We all experience this problem, young and old, but for your generation it is even more critical to be clear about this quandary.
Explain your approach to this problem.

ReplyDeleteOf course we tweens/teens want to have fun. Of course we want to have good grades to get into a good collage. But that's in the future, we're in the present. In the present we shouldn't worry about the future we want right now, we just want to relax and get away with the things we can get away with. But still, some of us, teens/tweens don't even know what we can do with are future, we are still searching for what we're good at, and how we can turn what we're good at in a profession. We're not even sure if we can turn what are hobbies or the things we love doing into a carer for ourselves. In my opinion, find what you're good at, try new things to find out if you want to do this as a profession or not, stick to the present and don't worry about the future, until you have found what you're good at or have found motivation to work on your future.
ReplyDeletehi
ReplyDeletepeople can find problems if they do only one of these things. both having fun and creating a future are needed. If you think being an artist is what you is a good future, and you love to draw, then be an artist because you think drawing and art is fun, then being an artist is what would make your job fun and you can enjoy it more Your future depends on what you make it. Only you can control your future. You have the power to have any future you want it just depends on how much time you spend on it. If you want to be a great writer, then you have to practice on your writing and if you don't then it scales on how good of a writer you are. The more you practice something the more you get more great at it. If you don't care about your future the worst your future can be. For all we know you might end up like a hobo on the side of the highway asking for money. So its a smart thing to think about your future :)
ReplyDeletewhat a hobo really!
DeleteI always want to have fun with my friends but it sometimes dose not do anything for the future. When I grow up i want to be a pro football player. This year I have put in the most work that I have to become the best player I can be. I practice every day and do my own training to make m become better in practice, but there is sometimes that I only want to hang out with my friends. During theses times I only do stuff that is only fun for now like jumping bikes, playing video games, and hanging out around the town. These are all fun for now but are not good for the future. To prepare myself to become a pro football player I have to do a extra two hours of football a day than hanging out for a couple hours, but there is a happy middle between hanging out and training. I can still hang out with friends by playing football with my friends at the park, or we can have our own special practice where we can have fun and still get better at the sport me and my friends all love. I have the power to do whatever I want to do when I grow up and right now I am preparing for my future

ReplyDeleteHaving fun is a good thing,it is something that we should be doing all time, but is it really?.... Of course you can have fun, i'm not saying that you can't, it's just sometimes it gets to be to much. If you had fun ALL the time you wouldn't have time to create your future such as: going to school, getting a job, doing your homework and even doing your chores. All of these things aren't fun, but they are important. If you just focus on what's happening now, what about your future? It is very important to work on something, or do something that effects your future. Also it is very important to do something that you love, because whatever you choose to do you will be with you for a long time. Even if you are doing something that you love it still might get boring sometimes, it's not always going to be fun, but i know that it all pays off in the end. If you don't care about the future, you don't care about getting a job it will affect your future, because if you slack off in school, and you don't get into a good college, then you won't get a good job. You will become something that you don't want to be.

ReplyDeleteWhat I do is tell myself that I need to focus on the work before the fun. If I had the options of playing or doing my homework I would need to choose to do homework. Sometimes I choose to have fun before doing the work, and I know that I need to work on that a little bit. But it's good to have fun before work sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSome people don't care or are clueless about what they want to do in their future, but I know what I want to do and I do care about it. I am going to go to college and study to be a vet, or a nurse, or a author, or a singer. I enjoy all of those things so I would have fun while doing any of those things.
I think it's good to know what you're going to do in your future because for all you know you could end up to be a hobo in the parking lot of Walmart or some other store or you could have a very successful future.
My solution to this problem is to work really hard on my school work now while I’m in middle school and then in high school. Then I can get into a good college and study how to become a fiction author. Right now what I do is take a short break right after school for about 30 minutes and I do something fun like play video games with my dad or play with my dog, then I have to work on my homework. I think it’s important that everyone has fun and does their work, because some people don’t care about their grades so they only have fun but when they grown up they can’t have fun because they don’t have any money. It’s also important to have some fun because if you don’t you just won’t be happy in life.
ReplyDeleteNow is amazing it is expiring. Imagining all the things that are going to happen....in the future have it all planned out but I have not been working for it and for it. For what I want to be when I grow up I do have to work hard. Right now I am a kid though I need to enjoy my life as a kid. You have your whole life to work right now is not the time. You are young you need to get out and enjoy the easy life, while you have it.
ReplyDeleteAn actor….that is what I want to be. I am a great actor and been telling my mom i am ready to work. One time in the car my mom told me she is willing. She is willing to take me to Hollywood for an audition. Then she said but...being a child actress grows you up to fast. No I am not ready or ready for growing up and I am prepared for my future.
I am not ready for my closer future I am actually scared. What is going to happen? I am nerves for what is going to happen don’t know what will happen and I am supper nerves. I will fall and I will get things wrong. I am I not ready for the future and don’t want to get prepared now want to be who I am and be myself.

ReplyDeleteWe are young, as most have already stated. We will be reckless because most of us have this notion that we have only these few years of our life to be that way, but the accuracy in that statement depends on the stability of your future life. If, say, you have a nice job with a healthy income and are not worrying about paying the bills or rent, then you can goof off and have fun in your spare time -- even if you're forty. In order to achieve this, however, you have to resist the temptation to procrastinate on the work, despite how "boring" it may be.
ReplyDeleteBy focusing on the work that you have to do now, you are considerably more likely to
achieve actual success later in life. On the other hand, ignoring the things that are necessary in order to play that new game or talk all day with a friend, will no doubt lead to more stress all around.
Say for instance, it's Monday and you have a big test coming up on Friday; one that will count for half of your grade. You go home, completely prepared to study -- but you get a call. Your friends are calling you, asking if you want to go camping with them from tomorrow to Thursday. You say yes. After all, you can always wing it, right? You obviously know enough about the subject to ace the test without studying. And besides, you've been waiting all month for an invite to that trip!
Days pass, and you had a great time with your friends. You go to school, not as prepared for the test as you thought you'd be. You're freaking out when it starts, passing notes, trying to find out anything, because you find that you were never taught most of the contents. The next week comes along, and you're nervous. You know that you probably didn't ace it like you thought you would, but you didn't know just how low it would be. The teacher pulls you aside, and asks what happened. You shrug and lie, saying that you studied but you guess it didn't sink in. They give you back the test, and your world comes crashing down. You failed. You didn't even get half of the questions right. Would this have happened had you politely declined your friends and took the time out of your busy schedule to actually study? No. You may not have had aced it, but you most likely would've at least gotten more than half. Now, despite the fact that scenario was purely fictional, it is by no means improbable.
You can't go to a good college without good grades. You can't get a good job without going to a good college, and you can't have a good life without a good job. It's just a simple fact.
Of course, that doesn't mean you can't have fun now; you just have to be careful not to get distracted. You need to work hard -- slacking off will only gain you a harder life in the long run.

ReplyDeleteI think fun now is the only fun that is positively certain to happen. Fun in the present will always happen and is probably the best for a limited amount of time. People that are unsuccessful can't have real fun forever, because they have too many things to make up for. (There’s also too much pressure that's put on them sometimes.) Unless you do the work you're given and stay in the moment by paying enough attention to the future just so you’re aware enough to be able to plan what you're going to do.
ReplyDeletePaying attention to the present and the future is an important thing to do. If you pay too much attention to the future you won’t get your work done, because you're afraid you will fail. Instead you should just do it and write down what you know. Then see the grade you got. If you didn't get what you wanted, just try again.

DeleteIn live you really dont know what is around the next corner. Say you liked a girl but you think she does not like you so huke her up with one of your friends but to find out she likes you back. Really got know when to draw that line beteen fun now and future fun and that is what this report is about. So you have to know when its work time and play time. And when I think its play time it is really work time.Giving up is like saying you dont whant to do it so just dont give up.
ReplyDelete100 words baby! wow
DeleteI think that we as children should stay in the present and not always worry about the future. But we should still think about it. If you get to caught up in the future you may not realize what is all around you. So make the most of the present. When life gives you lemons make pineapple juice and leave the world wondering how. When I am older I want to be a chef. But I should not let that get in the way of my family and personal life. I think that its fun thinking about the future but don't worry about it too much.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we should worry about the future and just stay in the present.
ReplyDeleteAs a child you have many years to do what you want. Like Kali said she wants to become a actress but she has many years to do what she wants to. And my opinion is your lucky as a kid cause you have many years and that helps you. Like Kali she wants to be an actress as a kid you have the option to get better and better. And when shes an adult shes going to know way more than as a kid. So dont worry about the future you have until your an adult to get better and better.
ReplyDeleteWhen I come home from school, usually, I want to play outside and then I realize that I have to get my homework done and I can't always have fun. I often avoid farm work and chores but after I finally help, I feel helpful and sometimes even earn money or a treat. If you keep trying to only have fun now and not think about your future, you might do as well in school and then probably won't get a good job and then won't be able to provide for a family. I think it is important to have fun but you can't always have fun.
